FAQs

What makes HI Chromatics watercolors special?

The HI Chromatics difference is that all of our watercolors are handmade in Hawaii from carefully selected ingredients that are both of the highest quality and the most environmentally friendly. We are passionate about letting the brilliance of our colors shine, so we thoroughly test each color so that we can share that beauty of exquisite watercolor with you.

What is the shelf life of HI Chromatics Watercolors?

When kept dry between painting sessions, our watercolors do not expire or go bad.

Do you ship internationally?

You say HI Chromatics Watercolors are vegan, does that mean watercolors usually contain animal products?

Most commonly available watercolors contain ingredients such as ox gall (derived from cow livers), animal glycerine, honey, and animal pigments such as Ivory Black, Sepia, and Carmine Naccarat, which is derived from a dye made from ground cochineal insects. However, our handmade watercolor paints contain non of that making them 100% vegan and eco-friendly.

Where do you get your pigments?

We source our pigments from various local distributors as well as from manufacturers around the world, including France, Italy, Cypress, India, and South Africa. Our metallic pigments come from China.

How do you create your colors?

We aim to create colors that inspire us and that offer something special to artists. Richness, texture, depth - these are the things that keep us coming back for more!

Our wide range of colors are unique and are designed to complement each other to build a useful and cohesive palette. These were the fundamental criteria for our Core Collection, a stunning selection of 41 natural and 20 metallic pigments.
